New Generation Group Site Visit to Binn Eco Park and SITA Landfill Site, Glenfarg.
Don’t miss the chance to visit these two great sites!
The Binn Eco Park, established in April 2009 is the first eco-innovation park of its kind to be established in Scotland. The eco park is based on three major industries:
Situated on a large, well established, integrated waste resource management facility the waste and resource focus is on the production of raw materials from waste and the remanufacturing of products from recovered materials. The site is still in development but we will be able to visit the existing waste recycling facility and view the plans for the future.
SITA operate the Landfill site at Binn Farm. They recognise that landfilling of waste is the disposal method of last resort under the UK's waste hierarchy, but also recognise that landfill must remain a critical element of any integrated waste management strategy. SITA design their sites and manage them in such a manner so as to avoid long-term potential for environmental damage, using their industry-leading expertise in pollution control, landfill gas utilisation and land restoration.
A site visit to the Binn Eco Park and the adjacent SITA landfill site has been organised by the Scottish New Generation Group for the 23rd November 2009. Delegates will be given a brief introduction followed by a tour of each site. The visit is expected to last approximately 2 hours. Further details and directions will be sent after booking.
